Avo, born unto this world as Avo John Kambourian, has had many hopes and dreams throughout the years. At a young age he started making short films with his friends on a Hi8 Sony Camera, simply for the fun of it. It didn’t occur to him then that filmmaking, or any related creative work, would be a prospective career choice. At the age of 16 he was taken under the wings of The Garabedian Bros, who introduced Avo to the art of editing, the heart of the post production processes. By age 19 Avo had already served under titles of Production Assistant and 2nd Assistant Director on music videos for big
name artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Serj Tankian and The East West Boys. In addition to growing on the production end, during that same year he was the Assistant Editor on not one, but 2 feature films. The first was Art Officially Favored, a documentary about street musician & activist Michael Masley. As well as a narrative feature film titled Angels, Devils, & Men. Throughout these years, Avo was also a full-time student at Los Angeles Valley College, after which he transferred to UCSD in pursuit of a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies. He values the input of others and believes that filmmaking is at its best when creative minds are moving in all sorts of directions, but are also propelling one another into greatness.
“There is no terror in a bang, only in the anticipation of it.”
- Alfred Hitchcock
