Meet Jen.

Executive Producer: Jen Chau

“I want to be an artist when I grow up.” These were literally the words uttered by Jen, circa very early 1990s, whenever asked the age old question, “And what do you want to be when you grow up?” Unfortunately, or inevitably, this sentiment was easily brushed away by her parents who did not want their darling daughter to end up a starving artist. The early-in-life brainwashing, paired with a genuine interest in science, made for an individual who continued to love the arts but had the near constant goal of, “I will become anything other than an artist!”

It was doomed from the start. Jen always had a foot somewhere in the creative realm her entire life; from tap dancing and violin lessons as a very young child, to being in the string ensemble and orchestra in the Huntington Beach Academy of Performing Arts in high school. However, the epiphany didn’t come until senior year of high school when Jen took a college-level film history course for the fun of it. In screening many classics, and teaching a new perspective on films, the class opened her eyes to a new possibility in life. From then on, it’s nothing but nit-picky details; but Jen came to UCSD on the first day and immediately changed her major from Management Science to Media, discovered a love for theatre design, and has since been doing the best she can during her time at UCSD to practice and learn. Jen has previously been a videographer for a start-up company, a director of a short play in the Underground New Play Festival, and the scenic designer for Muir Musical. Becoming an Executive Producer at Triton Television is her most recent conquest, but it certainly won’t be her last.
