As a young child his fascination with film began when he would regularly movie hop with his father. Unbeknownst to his father, this act of defiance would change him for the rest of his life. He would see two to three movies in one sitting with his father. This allowed him to see far more movies at a young age than any of his peers. Instead of being taken back by the uniqueness of the worlds being created on screen, Pratik wondered why movies could seem so similar, yet unique at the same time. It was this paradoxical quality of film that captured the imagination of Pratik in a way that no other discipline could.
Even before he was old enough not to drop it, he started sneaking into his parents closet and playing with their old Panasonic VHS camcorder.. This was the first time he was able to view life thru a frame. In high school Pratik helped run Granite Bay High School’s Media teams producing shorts and weekly bulletin-variety shows.
After in the year and a half after High School, Pratik went from Community College, to London until he finally settled at UCSD. Pratik joined UCSD as a Psychology/Visual Arts:Media double major. Additionally Pratik was a declared Pre-Med Student. At the beginning of his third year Pratik joined Triton Television as part of their first intern class. For his intern project Pratik started UCSD’s “#1 rated news show” Triton News Network, which brought awkwardly-sarcastic humor to UCSD’s News Feeds.
Now in his fourth year, Pratik is looking to focus on his new position of station Manager. Though he was raised on directing, editing and cinematography you will also find him in front of the camera as well. Pratik is also skilled in writing, producing, assistant-directing, stage management, script supervising, and production assistance. Officially an ex-Pre-Med Student now look for Pratik to make noise this year!
